Steps to Instating PIF at Your School

Play It Forward is a student led organization that has been created to allow student athletes to grow a community of their peers while giving back to the youth sports programs in our area that have raised them.  I am very excited about this opportunity to lead other (your school’s initials/name/ or mascot) student athletes in volunteering with our community, and am ready to get a jump start on things for the upcoming school year. I have been speaking with the Play It Forward founder and am preparing a smooth expansion into our school. If you could let me know how best to go about establishing this club I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!

After completing all necessary steps required by your school to create a club and receiving approval, you may proceed to the next steps.

Create a secure email address and password that is kept private and accessible only to selected officers who need access. Presidents are responsible for maintaining a record of all usernames and passwords created and used by their branch. One effective method to organize this information is to store it in a Google document or create a contact on your phone with all important Play It Forward details.

Your Instagram should be a reliable place for students to access information about your branch of Play It Forward and an effective source for member recruitment. Your school's page should resemble our other branches remotely, so feel free to use other profiles as inspiration. Any Play It Forward school's social media handle should be @yourschool'sname/initials.playitforward or a similar variation. For instance, @khs.playitforward or @kingwoodhs.playitforward. 

Your Instagram bio should include your email and a link to your Linktr.ee.

Linktr.ee is a free and easy tool for our branches to create their own websites. These sites can be used to post member forms, links to your social media pages, and any other useful links your branch wants to include. This site is crucial because, in addition to being linked to your branch's social media pages, it will also be featured on the official Play It Forward webpage.

Create a Google Form that resembles the one used at our founding school. Once you have created this form, you will be able to link the responses to Google Sheets. All answers will go directly to Sheets, where you can easily view application responses.

Send acceptance emails to your applicants following this sample. Before doing so, make sure to create a Remind account for your club. Remind is a free and easy way for branches to send information to their members. Messages can be received through the Remind app or by texting the number and code created upon setting up the Remind account. Be sure to include your Remind instructions in the acceptance email.

While Play It Forward prefers not to post Remind codes on your school's website or any social media pages, we allow Remind codes to be distributed via club email and shared at monthly club meetings. This ensures athletes stay informed while maintaining the security of our messaging methods.

Your application has been reviewed and your membership as a Play It Forward Athlete has been granted! Thank you for your interest in bettering your community as a student-athlete, and congratulations on your membership as a Play It Forward Athlete at (School Name) High School.
